Bletchington Training Band was formed almost ten years ago, from a small number of keen youngsters, in and around the village. The first practice was a little interesting to say the least; a few noises were made, and out came music - of sorts. The original band consisted of around 10 players of varying standard, some of whom are now established players in the senior band.
The aim of the band is to encourage players of any age or standard to have a go at making music. We try to instill a sense of bandsmanship and the basics of playing together. Once a month or so, the training band sits in on a rehearsal with the main band. This helps give the training band an idea of where they are heading.
As well as running the Training Band for people who can already play a little, we also teach from scratch.
From its humble beginnings, the band now numbers 18, with vacancies in our beginners programme. This should provide the organisation with players into the future.
If you are interested or ever wish you had learnt to play an instrument, why not come along to our training band rehearsal on Friday evenings at the village hall.
