We're off to the National Finals!
Bletchington Silver Band were awarded third place in the 4th section of the London & Southern Counties region of the National Brass Band Championships on Saturday 17th March, and will now represent the area at the National Finals at Cheltenham in September. The result was just reward for a fine performance by the band on the day, a reflection of the hard work put in by everybody in the months leading up to the competition and the direction the band receives under our Musical Director, Nigel Hall. This will be the bands second appearance at the National Finals, having previously represented the area in 2005.
More about the band...We are a small but ambitious 4th section band based in the village of Bletchington, eight miles north of Oxford. The band was formed in 1920, celebrating it's 90th Anniversary in 2010. We currently have a senior band and a training band for new learners. The band aims to encourage players of any age or standard to have a go at making music and is always open to new members.
