We are a small but ambitious fourth section band based in the village of Bletchington, eight miles north of Oxford. The band was formed in 1920 making this year its 90th Anniversary. We currently have a senior band and a training band for new learners. The aim of the band is to encourage players of any age or standard to have a go at making music.
Throughout the years the Band has continued to thrive, We entered the National Brass Band Contest scene in 2003 and in 2005, after being placed 2nd in the regional qualifiers at Stevenage, the Band were places 18th in the National Finals at Harrogate.
We are always open to new members and we welcome players of any ability.

Nigel was born in 1962 and his musical education began at the age of eleven with
piano lessons followed two years later by the Euphonium at school. Nigel joined Brackley
& District Band soon after and remained a member for four years before leaving to
join Yarnton Band near Oxford.
After two years Nigel's interests took him away from
Brass Bands (mobile discos, Hospital and Local Radio) before rejoining the band movement
(again with Brackley band) in 1995. This in turn rekindled his interest in composing
and arranging culminating in 1998 submitting pieces to Headline Music Productions
for publication.
Nigel also turned to conducting, taking the helm at Chipping Norton
Silver, Chalgrove, Avonbank (Evesham), Amersham Band, Malvern Hills District Band,
Pangbourne Silver Band and is currently with Bletchington Silver Band.
